Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I qualify if I have access to dental insurance but do not use it?

Generally, no. CDCP eligibility depends on whether you have access to private dental coverage, even if you choose not to enrol, have never used the benefits, or must pay a premium. This includes coverage available through employment, pensions, or a family member. Review the government’s eligibility requirements before applying.

  • Does CDCP coverage mean my dental treatment will be free?

Not necessarily. The CDCP pays a percentage of its established fees based on your adjusted family net income. You may still owe a co-payment, the difference between our clinic’s fees and CDCP rates, or the cost of services that are not covered. Even patients with a 0% co-payment should confirm any additional charges before treatment.

  • What does preauthorization mean for my dental treatment?

Preauthorization means that a treatment must be reviewed and approved by the plan before it can be covered. Certain services, including crowns and some denture, root canal re-treatment, and sedation procedures, require this step. Our clinic can discuss whether your proposed treatment needs approval and explain any costs before you proceed.

  • Can I receive CDCP benefits alongside government dental assistance?

You may still qualify for the CDCP if you receive dental benefits through a provincial, territorial, or federal social program and meet the other eligibility requirements. Coverage is coordinated between programs to avoid duplication. Let our clinic know about any existing government dental benefits when arranging your appointment.

  • How do I arrange a dental appointment after my CDCP approval?

Contact Tanzil Dental at (905) 830-6009 with your CDCP member ID, benefit start date, and coverage details available. Our team can discuss your dental needs and appointment options. Treatment must take place on or after your coverage start date, and you should confirm active coverage and any fees before receiving care.
